V-Lab® - A Distributed Intelligent Discrete-Event Environment for Autonomous Agents Simulationi
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a fusion between discrete-event systems specification (DEVS) and intelligent tools from soft computing. DEVS provides a robust and generic environment for modeling and simulation applications employing single workstation, distributed, and real-time platforms. Soft computing is a consortium of tools for natural intelligence stemming from approximate reasoning (fuzzy logic), learning (neural network or stochastic learning automaton), optimization (genetic algorithms and genetic programming), etc. The outcome of this fusion is what is called “Intelligent DEVS,” called IDEVS here. IDEVS is an element of a virtual laboratory, called V-Lab, which is based on distributed multi-physics, multi-dynamic modeling techniques for multiple platforms. This paper will introduce IDEVS and V-Lab and a theme example for a multiagent simulation of a number of robotic agents with a slew of dynamic models and multiple computer work stations.

Recent Developments in Discrete Event Systems
This article is a brief exposure of the process approach to a newly emerging area called "discrete event systems" in control theory and summarizes some of the recent developments in this area. Discrete event systems is an area of research that is developing within the interstices of computer, control and communication sciences. The basic direction of research addresses issues in the analysis an...
متن کاملPartial Observation in Distributed Supervisory Control of Discrete-Event Systems
Distributed supervisory control is a method to synthesize local controllers in discrete-eventsystems with a systematic observation of the plant. Some works were reported on extending this methodby which local controllers are constructed so that observation properties are preserved from monolithic todistributed supervisory control, in an up-down approach. In this paper, we find circumstances in ...
متن کاملUsing a Discrete-Event System Formalism for the Multi-Agent Control of Manufacturing Systems
In the area of Heterarchical Manufacturing Systems modelling and control, a relatively new paradigm is that of Multi-Agent Systems. Many efforts have been made to define the autonomous agents concurrently operating in the system and the relations between them. But few results in the current literature define a formal and unambiguous way to model a Multi-Agent System, which can be used for the r...
متن کاملAn Intelligent Discrete Event Approach to Modeling, Simulation and Control of Autonomous Agents
In this paper we investigate an intelligent discrete event method suitable for modeling, simulation and control of hybrid systems. More in detail, a Fuzzy logic approach based on Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS), which is a main part of Intelligent-DEVS (I-DEVS), is emphasized in the present work. We show that the resulting Discrete Event Fuzzy Logic (DEFuL) is faster than conventiona...
متن کاملA Basic Study on the Installation of Distributed Autonomous Production Scheduling System in Ubiquitous Environment
This paper considers an auction-based scheduling system in a job shop equipped with ubiquitous network environment to cope with dynamically changing market demands. Under such environment all machines and jobs are assumed to have computing and communication devices and can serve as intelligent agents. The functions for an auctioneer and for a participant are investigated to install the scheduli...
